3D Scanning & Reverse Engineering
3D scanning is a non-contact measurement technology used for data acquisition (in a scatter plot format) for the purpose of creating a solid model. Thanks to our experience, we are able to respond to a large volume of requests for the execution of scanning projects.
3D scanning, used in combination with the Faro measuring arm, allows the scanning of large mechanical elements (up to three metres) with an accuracy of ± 0.15mm. This technique is particularly effective for elements with complex geometries (left surfaces, variable fillets).
By rapidly producing a scatter plot corresponding to the scanned object, it is possible to recreate the corresponding geometries, angles, distances and volumes using reverse engineering.
The digital file of the three-dimensional part can then be used for a dimensional check, to produce a plan drawing or to track the evolution of a mechanical element over time, by comparison with previously acquired scans. This application is particularly useful for assessing the wear of a part according to its use.
Our mechanical engineers can be involved in the process of analysing the results, for example by carrying out a finite element calculation, making technical modifications or estimating residual working life.
Thanks to its experience, HYDRO Exploitation can respond to a large volume of requests for the execution of scanning projects, which can be carried out either in our own workshops or on site.
